Our History

Baby2Baby was established in 2006, and is led by Co-Presidents Kelly Patricof and Norah Weinstein. Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children up to age 12. By distributing new and gently used items to over 50 non-profit organizations, including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs and hospitals, Baby2Baby serves over 67,000 children each year.

Baby2Baby was founded by Karis Jagger, Lee Michel and Marnie Owens when they realized they had amassed more clothing, blankets and gear than their children could possibly use. At their homes, and out of their garages, Baby2Baby’s founders began collecting donations of essential children’s items from the community. While looking for a place to donate these critical items, they realized that Los Angeles lacked a central agency that provided these necessities for families in need.

In 2011, Kelly Patricof and Norah Weinstein took over the leadership roles as Co-Presidents, and Baby2Baby experienced a period of increased momentum and growth. They assembled a board of influential women - including celebrity moms Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie and Julie Bowen - and garnered support from corporations and other key figures in the community.

In 2012, Patricof and Weinstein moved Baby2Baby from a 900 square foot warehouse to a 6,000 square foot headquarters, significantly increased fundraising efforts and hired a full-time staff.  They have also involved their own children, and the families of Baby2Baby supporters, in the cycle of giving. Over the past two years, Baby2Baby has distributed over 2.5 million diapers, established 25 donation drop-off locations throughout the city and mobilized a formal volunteer program that includes supporters of all ages.

Last year, Patricof and Weinstein planned the First Annual Baby2Baby Gala, which sold out in one week and raised $1 million to further support families in need. Baby2Baby continues to grow with support from long-time donors, corporate supporters, families looking for a place to donate their extras, and community volunteers.
